Entropia by Christian Lorenz Scheurer

I spotted this on eBay and thought you might like to see it.

This seller has 3 copies for sale. It's a rare enough book at the best of times but to see 3 together at an excellent price and for a Buy It Now is very unusual.

I would recommend this book to everyone interested in fantasy stamps. It is a story told through stamp designs and the pictures are incredible.  unfortunately no photos on the listing so you will have to take my word for it!

Thanks for the heads up

Just to say though that there are cheaper (inc any post and packing charges) sellers than the one you've highlighted for the book also in new condition (some UK, some US) on both ebay and Amazon. Several are listed as having more than ten copies available.

This book is a taste I never managed to acquire.  I found the subject matter and pictures (aka stamps)boring.  I gave it away - to Colin I think.  He'll have a more balanced view.  Colin - was it any good?

Hi Keith - I found it very interesting.

The author is an illustrator and 3D artist producing props and set designs for the film industry and has a very broad view of the fantasy world he has created.

It's a bit daft in places, as all good fantasy should be, but the artwork is excellent and, I am guessing without looking at the publication date, it was produced by hand before digital artwork became possible.  I read it on the train home from Stampex, much to the amusement of the semi-drunk rugby fans sharing the table, who were reading over my shoulder. One of them was a teacher and asked for the title before he got off the train so he could recommend it to someone - so it must have a fairly broad appeal, even if alcohol was playing a small part.

I had seen the book previously at a book fair but made the decision to buy it too late - so was really pleased to be given it by Keith - so if you could pick it up at the lower end of the price range on eBay (and there are quite a few copies there) it would be well worth a read.

It's not a book about stamps though, just to make that clear, it tells a fantasy story using stamp designs as a reflection of the plot, alongside other illustration.

See.  I told you he'd have a more balanced view.  I saw pictures Colin sees artwork.

If you like eccentric stuff you will enjoy this book - it reminded me a lot of a Miyazaki Studio Ghibli movie.  But I accept not everyone's cup of tea.

Maybe this book is a little bit like Marmite, either you love it or your hate it Smile I'm definitely in the former camp and had recommmended it previously. At full price it is rather expensive but it should be possible to purchase it at half price or less from Amazon or eBay. Alternatively, you could try to persuade Keith to buy another copy and then give it to you Wink
