It appears that this was the second issue. The first series was issued the previous year, 1935, and covered The Southern Railway. Each set consisted of 40 stamps issued 4 per week over 10 weeks.

Thanks for the links,very helpful.
The last scan I posted was of LNER poster stamps,I believe.These appear to be different from the first series,and are not perforated like other examples I have found.

All are classic images still available as (repro) prints to hang on a wall. They are so instantly recognisable. |
