Hello all!
I am relatively new to stamp collecting (~3-4 years), but I have been interested in cinderellas more than postally issued stamps from the beginning. My major interests are as follows (in no particular order): Discworld Stamps British railway letter stamps (1891-1948, but especially 1891-1923) Poster stamps (especially ca 1890-1930) WWI Propaganda Stamps Convention, Exposition, and Exhibition stamps (especially ca 1890-1930) Royalty and railway thematics (commemoratives, bogus, etc.) Within those categories I am interested in misprints/sports/errors, overprints, color variants, Arts and Crafts style artwork, Art Nouveau style artwork, sheets, and blocks. I generally prefer mint to cancelled, but cancels provide some extra interest with some cinderellas and I am certainly not against collecting cancelled stamps! I'm American but am primarily interested in European stamps (again, I readily make exceptions, most readily for Empire/Commonwealth stamps and for royalty or railway thematics). In terms of non-cinderella stamps, I'm interested in: -Penny Reds (GB 1d) -Confederate States of America stamps -Royalty "thematics" (especially any royal portraits from the "Golden Age" of philately. I have thematics in quotes because royalty isn't so much a theme as the default for many that interest me) -Railway and Dinosaur thematics -Overprints I look forward to posting more in future! All the best, Philip

Hi all,
I have been interested in cinderella stamps for many years ever since being introduced to Gerald Kings work with his Wonderland stamps. Since retiring I have acquired a small letterpress press and produce stamps for the nations that make up the Woods of Morningmoss. Below is a stamp from the Roneer Federation of five woods. The currency is in Heptats (with a base of 7). I look forward to sharing more with you all later. Les

I can't see your scan here, Les, perhaps try linking it via an Imgur account (works for me!).
Better still, start a new thread for your own stamps so you can update it in months to come with new issues.
I would be interested in having some letterpress stamps printed if you ever consider offering that to members as a service :-) Good luck with your Woods of Morningmoss issues |

Hi Colin,
The letterpress stamps are a true labour of love, I printed 100 A5 sheets the other day using a neat registering pin system but only 31 sheets were useable at the end of a three day effort . So I have lots to still get right before offering any services. Regards Les

Welcome, Les! Sad that you only got 31 usable sheets from your printing effort! I recommend use your Adana, as I find I get 100% success rate with that press. Les recently kindly sent me some Morningmoss stamps. I will start a new thread to post them, and hopefully Les can then provide a commentary on each. regards, Bruce.

Don't worry Les, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. You are producing stamps you can truly call handmade and are learning as you go - I envy you! Keep going and please, if you get time, post up somewhere on the forum - perhaps the DIY section rather than new members section - some photos or details of the process. It would be really nice to see the stamps too and to find out the story behind them. Good luck and keep going! |

I am hoping this is the correct place to introduce myself, just a quick intro as i don't have a lot to contribute at the moment.
I've always found the non main stream (Postal Authority Issued) area of philately interesting and just pickup odd bits and pieces here and there but lately have had a stronger interest in Gerald King's Elizatoria series, in fact it was doing a google search that led me to this forum and the posts by JesperDK, at the time his www.cinderellafan.com site wasn't available, which it is now and just been looking at the amazing work his done. I guess one question i have which may be better suited to my first post is what constitutes a 'Cinderella' topic or item? Anyway, now i've introduced myself (hopefully in the right place) i'll spend some time later catching up on some of the posts. Thanks Neil

hi Neil
Yes this is the correct place to intrduce yourself - apologies, we got a bit waylaid on the thread - WELCOME to the forum and I hope you find what you are looking for here. There are various Gerald King collectors here - plus Gerry himself - so you never know what nuggets of info might pop up. To answer your question, for me, a cindrella is anything that might look like a postal authority item but which isn't. Perhaps too simple a description for many purists so I'd be interested to hear how other collectors define a cinderella. I am constantly surprised by the depth and quality of postal material that exists that wasn't produced for postal use, and even more amazed that there exists a small group of people who are keen to collect it - and even, occasionally, discuss it or, very rarely, post up photos to share with others! Welcome to the forum!
