A familiar site to many, but where was this picture taken?

Don't turn around, don't look away, don't even blink

I like to think of myself as one of the happy generation.

Near another Galaxy, Milky Way, or Mars?

Happiness doesn't come from getting something we don't have, but through recognising and appreciating what we do have.

Hi Steve, neat idea. At the risk of being the first stupid/sensible answer I'll plump for Gibralter.
You were clearly there to take the photograph and I think it was an act of pure genius to put that wooden board with the blurred words above the box just to confuse. When do I get my prize?

The prize is the satisfaction of being clever and getting it correct.

In front of Auberge d'Italie, Merchant's Street, Valletta, Malta. Auberge d'Italie was the GPO until it moved to Marsa a couple of years ago. Now it houses the Malta Tourism Authority.
The postbox originally had a royal cypher, but it was removed when Malta became a republic in 1974. Fortunately only a few postboxes had the cypher removed, and some are still in use today:

Something about the colour of the stone makes me think it could be a Welsh castle in the background. Cardiff?

I know you have all been spending up to 8 hours a day trying to solve this. But I will have to tell you its at Chirk Castle on the Anglo-Welsh border in N. Wales.
The castle is one of Edward I's and not only still complete, but also still inhabited.
