so as stated in my intro i am new to the world of Cinderella's i do collect stamps and in trading around the world have gotten a few "stamps" that mark a packet as air mail (no not an airmail stamp) 

do these count? 

what makes one collectible? and most important how do you find them? i know that these are basic level type questions but that is where i am at the bottom and eager to learn..

Hi bearfish

I think those airmail stickers are simply a label to assist sorting of mail to be forwarded by air. Blue with BY AIR MAIL or PAR AVIAN on then, or even POST AWYR here in Wales.

These are not counted as stamps though they can count towards postal history type collections. Perhaps best collected complete on the cover or envelope with the original stamps and cancellations. And older usually equals better. Some collectors go for the Registered Post labels than were used on letters.

Anything is collectable if you are interested in them, or find them attractive enough. Whether anybody else does is irrelevant if you a re a collector rather than an investor or speculator; buying and completing a collection to sell later at a profit.

Cinderella stamps can cover almost anything stamp like that is not used as payment for postage by the authorised postal systems. Charity labels on Xmas post can be an inexpensive and entertaining collection. You name it and someone probably collects it.

i see your point and thank you . i have saved them not being sure but they have ben soaked off the covers (except one as i love the cover!!)

now my question becomes how does one obtain Cinderella's that coincide with my stamps short aside from on cover? i have considered covers as a collection but have not chased it actively...

 . . . go to the Market place section of the forum and have a look what is available there.
Cinderella collecters, just like orthodox stamp collecters choose their subject and hunt out their quarry. Ebay and specialist aution site are all a good source. Or you could do worse than start here with those of us who offer examples in the Market place.

i have looked around in there and like what is available .. i am looking for kind of a bulk (almost kilo-ware) type purchase wo i can see what there is and decide how to narrow it down from there... LOL i know it seems kind of back words but i have found that when i personally have no idea what i am looking for buy a bunch right off and then after sorting see what grabs my attentions LOL..... 

as an amended question if some one has a trade posted is it inappropriate to offer regular postage versus Cinderella's as obviously i have none to offer in this case?

by the way thank you for dealing with such seemingly simple questions...

If you want a bulk of cinderella stamps you could do worse than check eBay for sellers of surplus Discworld stamps which many people are selling in lots of 30 or more.
 
Possibly the closest you will get to 'kiloware' but enough for you to sift through and decide what you like and start your collection, and cheap too.

Or you could try asking the members of other collectors' forums. there are plenty of stamp collectors out there who would consider cinderellas not worthy of collecting, or at best, outside their main area of collecting.

i must however refrain (and ask others to refrain) from talking about the other place as it is against my agreement with the forum admin.. our of respect for him i will honor that agreement.. 

i will be looking around for more options as time goes on
