Hello everyone, I am a new user of the forum. I'm here to inform you that I made a site on my grandfather's collection of cinderella stamps In 1903 my grandfather, Vittorio de Silva (1881-1954), began to collect poster stamps from around the world. Notwithstanding the difficulty of communicating in those times, he created an international network of relationships with other enthusiasts which enabled him to build a remarkable collection: some 6,000 pages containing over 120,000 poster stamps. He continued to cultivate this passion through very difficult periods, such as the two World Wars. The collection contains stamps dating from 1860 to 1954. In his memory I have now created a website www.erinnofilia.com exhibiting much of what remains of the collection. It was a long and complex task, in part because after my grandfather’s death the collection was divided among various heirs. At this time the site features eighty percent of the collection, about 5,000 pages which will gradually be completed as further material emerges from the archives. I hope that my initiative will be of interest to you. You can find the site at this address: With best wishes Giorgio de Silva

Thats sounds great Giorgio.
Poster stamps as well as being attractive in their own right, provide a mirror of society of their time. Style and design tastes are reflected, they reflect the industry, products and products of their time. So I look forward to seing them. You must have put great effort into this work and it will be appreciated by many. Unfortunately the link doesn't work

Any positive help appreciated! |

Hello Giorgio and thanks for posting the link. Colin, this looks too important to be in the Introduce Yourself section. Should it not be in Cinderellas where more people will see and use it?

Dear The idea of poster stamps interests me as much advertising as a collector. I am not a collector. I am a professional dell'erinnofilia love, who knows the subject because I inherited chromosome. An art is wonderful in terms of aesthetic quality of the technicalcommunication. In fact, I built the site for three reasons: - The first collector to honor my grandfather, - The second of my colleagues as an aid to advertising, an introduction to advertising. A museum of online advertising in the'800 / '900. - A third reason that I consider important: reading, erinnofili through the history of the world. A direct reading and special education that promotes a far from textbooks, interpreted freely by every student of any age. So my wish is to be able to bring this wonderful art to as many people as possible. Ora vi lascio a presto Giorgio |
