 To all,

For those of you here that may have known Ben, or collected his excellent stamps, sad news...

If you are not familiar with Ben's Poca Post stamps, many of them are displayed there on his web site as well, plus a final stamp.

Ben will be missed, indeed.

I'm not familiar with Ben's work, but now I know. What an intriguing collection of stamps, each with its own amusing write-up. Some real characters commemorated by those stamps - could be a source of inspiration for any would-be designers. Thanks Bill

As a newbie I thought I'd start by looking at the oldest posts here first.

This thread is well worth a look to anyone (like me) who is considering making their own stamp issues, It is a total inspiration. What a great pity this designer i sno longer with us as I think he would be very very popular here now.

Thank you Bill Porter for putting up this link to his work and I am looking forward to the time when I can return the honour by presenting you with some of my stamps to print and perforate.

I'd like to also say thank-you to the people behind this forum, for providing the only place I know online where designers and collectors can come together to discuss their passions.

Best wishes to all the members here for 2012  Big smile

I'm so glad Matthewman adopted his unusual strategy because I missed this first time around.  These stamps are a hoot!
With a memory full of ships, and seas, and perilous headlands, and the shining Pharos, he must apply his long sighted eyes to the petty niceties of drawing. - Robert Louis Stevenson

These are excellent!

I think I'm going to go back through the earlier threads too and see what other buried treasures might be resurrected Wink
