I have started this topic in order to encompass stamp issues directly related to World War I. This will keep additional topic to the section to a minimum, while grouping like posts. It is not for items that coincidentally were issued between 1914 to 1918 and have no war backstory

An unusual set of stamps showing scenes various French (one Belgian) cities and towns before and after the fighting. There is no indication of any orhanisation behind them. They may be propaganda labels for peace, or fund raising for restoration. Most havebee scissor cut, but a couple are perforated, and these both carry postmarks. One clearly states Paris 1917. Flames in some of the 'avant' stamps suggests recent battles.
Probably not a full set; 7 seems to be an odd number, especially when you consider how many towns were devastated during that period.
