so i was walking through a garage sale the other day and came across this nice set of Cinders. i know i paid a bit high for them but i really wanted to have them ... i will describe them here and scan them later today if they are done in the press (i will explain in a few moments)

so the stamps are of the US flag and have the '58 on them indicating to me that they were created in 1958 the bottom of the sheet has AMVETS printed on it and information on how to donate.

i want to know more if any one has any info on these . in particular value and or thir organizations further printings of similar items..

the sheet was full but the owner has some time ago folded it along the perforations and it stuck to itself... with a lot of patience and a bit of steam from a cool house cleaning device i got them to separate and it would seem the gum is mostly still intact... however along the folds the sheet separated and this could not be avoided this time around....

ideas? info? interest?LOL

.

. . . wiki has this about AMVETS.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMVETS - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMVETS

So my guess is a fundraiser or support issue from 1958.

(I did say 'guess'.)

Hi
I'm not trying to poke fun or anything, but over here the abbreviation 'vet' is almost exclusively reserved for vetinary surgeon. Veteran tends not to be be abbreviated.
But this could lead some to wonder why so may SE Asian pet doctors ever move to the USA
