I was contacted this week by a Discworld Collector who had bought a bag of stamps in a charity shop, as there were Discworld stamps in it. She asked me if I new any thing about the 1D Pyrattica Compass stamp in the bag...

Lucky Lady! Did she find any rare sports?

Hi Pete!  So with your Pyrattica stamps you have achieved everything Terry wanted from a Discworld stamp when he originally wrote the book - that it should be able to be dropped into a bag of 'real' stamps and blend in seamlessly.  Congratulations!

I wonder which collector has been sending their cinderellas stamps in to unsuspecting charity shops? What a great idea  Wink

That was certainly an amazing coincidence that she should ask you but as Colin suggests how wonderful to achieve mainstream circulation (or re-circulation). Recently Rushstamps were selling one of Colin's Maravedas stamps but described it as 'unidentified'.

I do check local charity shops on a regular basis for stamp products and they do turn up from time to time. I've managed to buy stamp books, a stockbook (new) and several yearbooks for Sweden and China at very good prices. But, beware, I also purchased a yearbook of UK stamps at a great price and it wasn't until I got home that I realised that there weren't any stamps inside, what appeared to be the stamps were just photographs Embarrassed Fortunately, as a regular customer, I readily got a refund.

Most recently I purchased a souvenir book, including several sheets of stamps, for an exhibition at the British Museum for Chinese (Signature) Seals which also included an actual wooden seal.

No sports, I think they are from freebies I sent with ebay sales.
And just for information, I hope after Wadfest to Kickstart (;)) Pyrattica.
A link will be posted in the appropriate place at the time.
