Got my sheet today (and of course the 2 single stamps) well chuffed with them and got the added bonus of extra stamps/stickers on the envelope, see below particularly like the "Chat Noir" cigarette advert sticker. bad punning at its best

Thanks for suggesting we move these Steve - I don't want them to detract from the forum anniversary stamps thread.

The cat designs were put together to use as a consistent test bed for sample gummed papers I had been sent from all over the world. We needed a sheet of artwork that would test the printing of dark areas, small type, tiny detail and big blocks of colour on matt, silk and gloss papers.  There are quite a few of them and if I am ever able to produce lots more stamps I might put them in the 'Bags of Bits'.

We have nicknamed them 'The Catastrophes' here as a reflection of the lack of gummed papers, but also because - due to the rush in which they were put together - each of them has a fault, most often in the text.  If I DO ever print them properly then the errors or deficiencies will be addressed, and then they will be perfed rather than straight-cut..

I thought they might be a fun thing to decorate the envelopes!

That they are just a test bed does not make them uncollectable Colin, at least in this house. So if anybody is willing to send me their's I promise to give their Black Cat a good home.

What does now concern me is how many are there, and how many papers were used? Basically there could be more variations floating around that even I could imagine.

Anybody else old enough to remember the inspiration for this design?

I have only cut up one sheet so only one weight and finish of paper to collect, should you wish to.

I love the idea of a Black Cat Home!

I think I may have spotted something of a variant on those envelope scans but the only image I can blow up on my monitor in order to make absolutely sure is Jonty's.

Without wishing to spoil anyone's fun, here is a clue: Wink  or possibly: Sleepy

But then again it might just be a trick of the light. More scans please!?

I got this particularly afflicted bunch of cats!
It's a hard life being a cat.

I have Kitty envy. I only got one stamp on my envelope, Carole got two...  Cry

I can see what 'Parrot' was hinting at though... Has anyone noticed that on the Discworld labels Great A'Tuin is either winking or sleeping?  Well spotted parrot!

That makes 11 of these so probably 1 missing.

Colin you say these are just postal decoration, but to me they are quite valid as Cinderellas - even if they have to be classed as fantasy poster stamps.
Whether or not they eventually appear as finalised stamps, rejigged and tidied up, it great to be be surprised by these, unasked for and for free.

Thank you!

Mine seems to be the same as the first one in the sequence of three that Steve posted above, though on close examination the "Ugly Cat Co" words are in a darker shade.

Missed these. They look so much better perforated.

These stamps were another printing test - actually an error as the printer got the size totally wrong - although I also think they looked great smaller and perforated.

I won't be selling another complete set of these so I am very happy to say they have all gone to one buyer and hopefully will stay together as a unique set.
