In 1842 the Oernant Tramway, which ran from Horseshoe Pass quarries down the the canal near Llangollen, overprinted the imperforate QV penny red for mail carried for the quarrymen to be posted on in town. There was a farthing surcharge for this service.
![]() This fell foul of the authorities so the company produced their own farthing stamps. ![]() Can anybody find an even earlier Cinderella issue? Of course on the other hand you can never take me too seriously |
