I bought these 2 strips of Wonderland 1843 stamps on eBay.

Adding them to my collection made me realise that there are at least two types of the 1 penny 1843 "White Lines Added" issue.

Illustrated in the catalogue is a penny deep brown which has no hearts in the bottom corner of the design.  But the penny yellow-brown (not illustrated) does have "hearts in solid colour and outlined in white".

The two I bought on eBay are different in that the one on the left is Orange Brown and the one on the right is printed on blue paper.  They both have hearts in the bottom corners.

So has anyone else spotted any other versions of type 3?

While I'm asking questions has anyone seen any of these stamps se tenant with a border design or text with the border on the right of the stamps?  I've seen lots of these stamps on eBay and I have several in my collection but the border always seems to be on the left.  Does anyone have an image of a sheet they could share?

	They do not exist in sheet form; they were printed in pairs only, with the "tab" at left. The 1d red and brown, with lines, follow the same format as the 1840 blacks in this manner. There were some printed on blued paper, probably about 10% of the total. The first printings of these back in1979 (?) were on "ButterflY" brand gummed paper. The recently printed stamps are hand gummed, as they are laser-printed as against litho, and gummed paper spells death and destruction to most laser-copiers. The "tab" has no significance, being merely ornamental.

	Nice stamps, have not seen them before. And today is the 145th anniversary/Birthday of Alice in Wonderland !! Does a list of Alice stamps exist ?? Londonbus1

	Yes There are two A5 size "catalogues", one for the "Pre-Alice period of 1840-1865, and one for the issues of 1865-1871 which encompasses both Wonderland and Looking-glass Land. All stamps are illustrated with details of dates, times, etc. Postal history not covered in either. Available at £4 each post paid. email kingphantas@aol.com

	That's a super sheet. I envy you having it. Here are my latest aquisitions - a number of covers which will be familiar to those of you with the Through the Post Box book. Here is a William Unready envelope addressed to Alice. Then a cover from Alice to her right foot. Posted from the Pool of Tears with an Elbow Bend transit mark. A cover from Alice to her cat Dinah. Recovered from the Pool of Tears. I love the Emergency Inflation issue stamp. Here is the back with the Dodo Dead Letter Office stamp. A Bill, the First Lizard in Space crash cover. I really loved the "Recovered from the Cucumber Frame" cancellation. A Royal Household Official stamp on an invitation to play croquet with the Queen. 	I particularly like the Letter to Diah, but looking at the catalogue I wonder if the value of this srticle has been artificially enhanced. Individually the stamps are values at 1.0 to 10.0 but an unseparated strip is only valued 0.3
